If EA wants to put Anthem on Steam, they can do so. Valve isn't stopping that. Friend of mine also asked EA support about missing games like Anthem in EA Play on Steam, the answer they received was 'we're not planning on making everything available on Steam'. Also keep in mind that EA Play on Steam only has their own EA games. EA Play will come to Steam on August 31, and with it, a cheap way to access games like Titanfall 2, Battlefront 2, and The Sims 4. EA recently rebranded the subscription service under the EA Play.

Electronic Arts' own subscription service, EA Play, is now available for Steam users to subscribe to giving users access to some major EA titles already on the popular digital store front with more games on the way.

Back in June, EA held a digital showcase featuring updates on some anticipated games as well as the surprise confirmation of Skate 4. A portion of the show was dedicated to EA making its games available on Steam including the divisive horror title Dead Space 3. The Steam platform is now home to several EA titles including The Sims 4, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, and Need for Speed: Heat.

Last month it was announced that the EA's subscription service would be coming to Steam with users being able to use the platform to subscribe to EA Play. Subscribers would also receive benefits through their subscription such as discounts off of select EA Games when purchased off of the Steam platform, a benefit oddly enough not currently part of EA's own digital storefront.

The push for EA Play started when the company re-branded its digital distribution platform on PC formally known Origin and its subscription service on consoles, formally known as EA Access, both to EA Play. The EA Play umbrella will now encompass both platforms giving users to the choice of the subscription or purchase of participating games. Those who subscribe to Origin Access Premier will now be under the name change of EA Play Pro but still receive the same benefits that were given under the old moniker.

Meanwhile, EA continues to promote the upcoming release of Star Wars: Squadrons this October. Star Wars: Squadrons received a story mode trailer at Gamescom focusing on a campaign mission with the Empire and featuring a few familiar faces in the Star Wars universe. Squadrons looks to continue the success EA has had with the Star Wars franchise, building off the popularity of its latest release in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Better yet, Steam users will now get to purchase the game directly, rather than having to go through the former Origin program.

Gamescom also saw more teases of Dragon Age 4 by developer BioWare. Though no details regarding the story or characters were revealed, the developer did show some concept art hinting at the direction of the game with locals and characters, including a new look at Dragon Age: Inquisition's Solas who looks to play a major part in Dragon Age 4's plot. Like Star Wars: Squadrons, Dragon Age 4 is also expected to arrive on Steam whenever the game is ready for launch.

The re-branding and move to Steam comes just a few months shy of next gen consoles where EA has several sports titles like Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21 making a next gen debut.
